St Peregrine Mass for the sick will take place at 7.30pm on Wednesday 6th September in St Aidan’s Church, Butlersbridge. St Peregrine is the patron saint of cancer patients. Anointing with St Peregrine oil will be offered at the Mass.

World SEPSIS Day is marked globally around 13th September.Sepsis affects many people throughout the world with more than 58 million cases diagnosed per year and 11 million deaths due to sepsis.It is important both healthcare staff and the public are aware of the signs and symptoms of sepsis and the need for early appropriate treatment.Cavan Monaghan Hospital Group sepsis committee launched the Light Up Pink initiative in 2023.This year the Cathedral and Courthouse are joining this initiative.There will be an information article in the Anglo Celt and Northern Standard.Increased awareness and knowledge has the potential to save lives and to reduce the adverse consequences of sepsis.Further information on sepsis is available on www.hse/sepsis

Bishop Martin will lead the Season of Creation Celebrations at 10am mass on the 10th September 2023 in the Cathedral of Saint Patrick & Saint Felim. The Season of Creation is a worldwide, ecumenical movement which aims to celebrate the joy of creation and raise awareness of environmental and climate injustice.

Strides for Life This is a walking programme for people recovering from cancer treatment. The programme aims to bring participants to a level of fitness where they can help reduce their risk of a recurrence and improve their health and quality of life. Recommended by the Irish Cancer Society, it is individualised for each participant’s fitness level with a personal schedule which gradually increases every week over the 12 weeks. The course will begin in Cavan in September. Organised by the Cuan cancer social and support centre, the course is free and is suitable for all levels of ability.
