CATHEDRAL and ST AUGUSTINE’S HALL RESTORATION – gathering opinions Cathedral & St. Augustine’s Hall Restoration – gathering opinions Further to the recent survey we conducted at all Masses re the restoration project – of both the Cathedral and St. Augustine’s Hall – we wanted to share the feedback with you. We gathered 621 opinions – the majority through the survey (599) and the remainder (22) via one-to-one conversations to allow more in-depth insight. We received many positive reactions and overall, we learned that: § The majority are supportive of the restoration project, with comments made on the historical importance of the Cathedral and it being a focal point for Cavan town § The necessity of the work is understood to enable its upkeep and importantly to ensure a legacy for this and future generations § The heating, draught proofing and roof insulation are considered the highest priorities § There is a need for more information on the overall costings and certain elements – St. Augustine’s Hall in particular, its use and impact on the parish § The financial goal is considered ambitious yet manageable § There is a willingness to financially support the restoration These opinions are valuable as we now progress to the active fundraising. We appreciate your continued commitment and will provide updates over the coming weeks and months. Thank you.
